In this homily, we celebrate the feast of the North American martyrs, Saints John de Brébeuf, Isaac Jogues, and their companions, who are honored as secondary patrons of Canada. These missionaries showed immense courage and faith as they dedicated their lives to spreading the Gospel among indigenous peoples, often facing severe hardships and martyrdom. Their story is not only a testament to their love for God and neighbor but also a reminder of the Christian roots that have shaped our communities. We reflect on their evangelization approach, which respected and built upon existing beliefs, and pray for their intercession in our modern world.
